With only 3 days left to take advantage of  a free upgrade to Windows 10, here’s Tuesdays tech tip and one reason you may want to go ahead and schedule that upgrade today.

Having long been a favourite of Mac OS X users, the ‘Virtual Desktop’ finally comes to Windows. In windows 10 you know have the ability to create multiple desktops that can run concurrently on the same system. This is a great tip for those looking to organise their space. and the setup couldn’t be easier.

 

Step 1:

Click ‘Task View’ 

Step 2:

Click ‘+ New Desktop’

Step 3:

Open all the applications you wish to use on the new desktop

Step 4:

Click ‘Task View’ or ‘Win + Tab’ to switch between active desktops.

1Ctrl/Cmd + L– highlights text in the address bar

2Ctrl/Cmd + T– open a new tab

3Ctrl/Cmd + W– close current tab

4Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + T– reopen closed tab

5Ctrl + Tab– switch tab one tab to the right

6Ctrl + Shift + Tab– switch tab one tab to the left

Automatic login is a useful feature of Google Chrome, but it can make it difficult to remember passwords as you are not entering them each time you login to an account. If you find yourself stuck trying to remember a password, don’t panic, follow these 3 quick steps to retrieve any password stored in Chrome:

1: In the top right, click the icon you see: Menu or More, then click settings:

2: At the bottom of the menu, click Show advanced settings.  Under “Passwords and forms,” click Manage passwords.

3: Choose the account you would like to retrieve the password for and click ‘show’.
